| Description: | The Loras College Division of Business Administration invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the level of Associate Professor available August 2010. Area of teaching specialization within the division of business is open, management discipline is preferred. Three-year renewable term as chairperson. Reports to the Provost/Academic Dean. Develops and implements a vision for the Division. Provides strategic leadership and direction and is responsible for development, administration, assessment, and promotion of academic programs and new initiatives. Provides support for students and supervises faculty and division secretary. Builds relationships within the Loras community and with the external business and alumni communities. Administrative focus with teaching responsibilities within the business division and opportunities to teach general education and January term courses. |

DIVISION OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION. The Division of Business Administration consists of 13 full-time faculty members and offers majors in Accounting, Finance, Management, Marketing, Computer Information Technology - Management, and Business, with minors in accounting, business, and CIT-Management, and a concentration in international business. THE COLLEGE. Founded in 1839, Loras College is a Catholic, four-year, coeducational, liberal arts institution that includes pre-professional and career preparation and is dedicated to high academic, ethical and moral standards. The student body consists of approximately 1,600 students, over 90 percent of whom are full-time undergraduates. The college is a wireless, laptop campus and there will be opportunity for developing technology-rich, interdisciplinary courses for the general education curriculum. THE COMMUNITY. Loras College's 60 acre campus is located on one of Dubuque's highest bluffs, overlooking the Mississippi River at the junction of the states of Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin, about 3 hours west of Chicago. Dubuque's population is approximately 60,000 and its nineteenth century architecture is woven into limestone bluffs and provides a picturesque backdrop to the river landscape. Many residential and commercial areas have been designated as historical districts to preserve Dubuque's unique heritage. Its strong education base supports numerous cultural activities, and in addition, there are sporting events, shopping facilities, schools, and churches that are convenient to its residents. The climate has marked seasons with a comfortable summer, cool spring and fall, and a winter that encourages a variety of sports that have in recent years attracted a growing tourism industry. | Qualifications: | Earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institution preferred, MA, MS, or MBA in a business-related discipline required, management discipline is preferred. Successful experience as a tenured faculty member with leadership and teaching experience. Administrative and managerial experience and a strong understanding of academic culture. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; ability to work in a team environment; collaborative management style; evidence of analytical skills, including budgeting and cost analysis; and a strong commitment to diversity.
